Chirp, the sharing app that lets you send files through sound, could get a bit more powerful soon. The app now has an SDK for mobile developers that opens up the software so any app could implement Chirp’s technology. If you’re not familiar with the app, it essentially encodes a URL into a soundbite or ‘song’ that can then be picked up by other devices, without a need to pair devices or enter any passwords. In other words, it’s not actually sending the full file, but rather a link to access it.There’s a lot you can do with just a URL nowadays, however, and Chirp says its SDK could be used by developers for things such as content sharing, payments and gaming. The SDK is currently private, but you can sign up to try it out at Chirp’sdeveloper page.
